Shree Satkanya Primary School (Mankha - Sindhupalchowk)

The school was completed, the official opening was on August 30th 2016.

All the classrooms, offices and toilets are damaged. Temporary baboo classrooms are made at the moment. Apart from this, no any help has been received so far. The School immediately requires 6 class rooms, 2 toilets (for male and female students), 1 library room and 1 teachers’ room. The cost of the new school will be £12,500 ($20,000).
Glenn Rowley from the Juniper Trust and Namgyal Sherpa from the Pasang Lhamu Foundation laid the first brick at a small ceremony attended by all of the school children and most of the village. Now work can begin on the foundations and we hope to see the school taking shape over the coming weeks – 30th November 2015 The access road to the new site is now complete and the diggers are clearing the new site for the school. The designs have also been approved so we should see the building work progress in the next few weeks. Great news – November 2015. The locals have purchased land for a new school and a road extension is now being built to help with the building works. Designs and drawings have been submitted for approval and decisions still have to made regarding the best solution for the building, in terms of safety and cost – October 2015.
The roof is finished to complete the ground floor – July 2016. The foundations are laid for the future! A new site, a new school and new hope for 80+ children. We will hopefull see complettion in the next 3 months – May 2016. Plans are finally approved for the school, Juniper Trust have promised to donate $20,000 with the village finding any extra funds that will require for extra classrooms – December 2015.
